Children's mental health services woefully inadequate - Brooke

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 24th Apr 2008

Commenting on today's [Thursday] opinion poll conducted by The Children's Society which reveals mounting concern about children's mental health and well-being, Liberal Democrat Children's Spokesperson, Annette Brooke said:

"This survey highlights growing concerns about children's mental health and well being.

"The Government's provision of children's mental health services has been woefully inadequate.

"Cuts to services have led to some children being treated on adult mental health wards.

"We need to ensure a strong support network for children to ensure that mental health problems are identified early on and don't end up as serious problems in later life.

"Ensuring the happiness and stability of our children must be a top priority."
